Closed
Inspection fully complete. All tests passed, records signed off. No further action needed.
QA Sign-off
All tests done — awaiting a final signature from the QA engineer before the lot can close.
In Review
Currently being reviewed by an inspector or lab. No action needed yet — check back later.
Pending Close
A minor outstanding item (usually paperwork) is holding the lot open before final closure.
Flagged
Test results raise a concern. The lot is held until an engineer reviews the data.
Work Order Priorities
Critical
Blocks construction or poses a safety risk. Must be resolved within 24 hours — escalates automatically.
High
Significant issue affecting project schedule. Target resolution: 48 hours.
Medium
Standard follow-up item. Target resolution: 72 hours.
Low
Minor or informational. No urgent deadline.
Inspection Terms
Lot
A batch of material submitted for inspection — e.g., "240 A490 bolts from PO-2847" or "3 concrete cylinders from Nov 6 placement."
NCR — Non-Conformance Report
Filed when a test result falls below the required standard. The lot is placed on hold until the EOR issues a disposition (accept, reject, or repair).
EOR — Engineer of Record
The licensed structural engineer legally responsible for approving or rejecting NCR dispositions on this project.
ITR — Inspection Test Record
A checklist completed during an inspection confirming each required test was performed, witnessed, and recorded.
Mill Certificate
A document from the steel manufacturer certifying the material meets the specified chemical composition and mechanical properties (e.g., yield strength, elongation).
Submittal
A shop drawing, product data sheet, or material sample submitted by the contractor for engineer review and approval before installation.
CVN Test — Charpy V-Notch
Measures how tough steel is at a specific temperature — i.e., its resistance to sudden fracture. Required for bridge steel in seismic zones.
f'c — Concrete Compressive Strength
The target compressive strength of concrete measured in psi. This project requires a minimum of 4,000 psi per ACI 318-19.
A325 / A490 — Fastener Grades
ASTM bolt standards. A325 = standard structural bolts. A490 = high-strength bolts with stricter proof load requirements — used in critical connections.
A572 Gr50 / A36 — Steel Grades
ASTM structural steel grades. A572 Grade 50 has higher yield strength (50 ksi). A36 is standard mild steel (36 ksi). The grade determines which tests are required.
Standards & Systems
AASHTO
American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. Sets the national standards for bridge design, construction, and inspection that all federally-funded bridges must follow.
Caltrans
California Department of Transportation. Sets additional state-level requirements for California bridges — often stricter than AASHTO on seismic provisions.
SLA — Service Level Agreement
A contractual promise about system availability. This platform is contracted at 99.9% uptime — meaning less than 8.7 hours of allowed downtime per year.
AutoCAD / ArcGIS / Procore
The three external systems connected to this dashboard. AutoCAD = structural drawings. ArcGIS = spatial/geospatial mapping. Procore = project management (submittals, RFIs, work orders).
